Sagicor shows gratitude to frontline mothers and nurses FOR the last few months they have been risking their lives and the lives of their families by venturing out into an environment of uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and Sagicor is ensuring that their sacrifice does not go unnoticed. Over the last couple of weeks, the leading financial institution has made several donations to mothers and nurses on the frontline of the battle against this health crisis, in recognition of Mother’s Day and International Nurses’ Day. The donations consisted of packages of groceries and items of indulgence and were delivered to mothers employed across the island’s various essential services, along with nurses stationed at the number of medical institutions and clinics in operation. Assistant Vice President – Marketing, Communications & Brand Experience, Carolyn Shepherd, said the packages were created as a small token of appreciation for the heroic sacrifice that these individuals are making during this challenging time. “During these uncertain times, these individuals have made the ultimate sacrifice by putting their personal health at risk in order to keep each of us out of harm’s way and we saw it necessary to thank and recognise them,” she said. “Typically, these celebrations come with much more fanfare, however, given the prevailing circumstance, we had to take a different approach this year.” The list of mothers working in essential services were identified with the help of the company’s Financial Advisors and Customer Experience Team, along with recommendations from the public via Sagicor’s social media platforms. With regards to the nurses, packages were delivered to those working at Bayview Hospital; Diagnostic Clinic; Coverley Medical Centre; FMH Emergency; Sandy Crest Medical Centre; Elcourt Clinic; CT (Barbados) Inc.; Enmore Medical Centre and Bestdos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Shepherd noted the company’s focus on recognising the efforts of individuals within this space, pointing to the recent launch of the Sagicor Healthcare Heroes Plan, which offers an attractively priced and comprehensive Group Life Insurance coverage for doctors, nurses, pharmacists, opticians, dentists, orderlies and administrative staff. “The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced to the world the importance and value of the essential services required for us to survive as a people. Sagicor recognizes the importance of this group and will continue to seek out ways to recognise and reward them for their sacrifice and heroic efforts,” she said.
