T&T Chamber appoints new CEO Stephen de Gannes has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce. “Mr de Gannes has expressed his excitement about this new opportunity and moving the T&T Chamber forward, ensuring that we remain relevant and continue to be seen by our members and potential members as ‘The Voice of Business’,” a release from the T&T Chamber stated yesterday. The release noted that de Gannes also looks forward to working closely with the chamber’s membership, the Government, and other stakeholders locally and regionally to increase the ease and efficiency of doing business and improving the economy. It said de Gannes brings a “strong foundation of leadership and strategic insight with keen understanding of transformation during turbulent times.” According to the release de Gannes graduated from the University of the West Indies as an electrical engineer in electronics and telecommunications in 1990. He furthered his studies at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business where he pursued a Master’s degree in Management of Business Administrations with a focus on strategic planning and entrepreneurship. He also worked with the then Neal and Massy Group and TSTT in several junior managerial positions. “His global business background extends to then working as the country representative for multinational corporation Rockwell Automation, a major US manufacturer of electrical and control equipment for oil and gas, manufacturing, and industrial organisations worldwide, and the local branch of a Houston-based engineering company,” the release stated. “With expertise in change management and organisational transformation, he successfully restructured their local divisions,” it stated.
