Ramps Logistics VP: Chase the vision, not the money SHASTRI BOODAN Chase the vision and not the money was part of the business has been the advice given to young entrepreneurs by vice president of Regional Initiatives at Ramps Logistics Rudy Rampersad. Rampersad spoke on Saturday as the Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP) Limited hosted its Business Pitch Competition at its Chaguanas head offices. He said, “Entrepreneurship begins with the right plan and resources in place to fuel that dream.” Rampersad said that the YTEPP Business Plan competition aligns with Ramp’s Logistics vision of entrepreneurship and youth development. He said, “Our greatest resource in T&T is not oil and gas, it is our people, it is our youths. The youths are the innovators and today we will be able to see just that.” He said youths bring new, fresh and brilliant ideas to the table. “ Anytime is a good time to start your own business. Having the right mindset is critical and always remember it’s not always going to be an easy road. There are going to be difficult days, but with the right mindset and understanding that our goal ahead, you are going to overcome those things.” Chairman of YTEPP Thora Best said the national economy can be built through self-employment. Best said, “Everybody cannot get wage employment and we live in an age where young people have fantastic ideas. COVID has taught us that some of these ideas take off like a rocket. We didn’t think that some of the businesses we have now, we didn’t think that we would have them preCOVID.” Best later told the media that the competition was important to build the confidence of the participants to convince investors. She said YTEPP would be seeking to partner with other agencies to build its brand and get more internships for its trainees.
