Heritage Petroleum Company Ltd continued its
annual seedling distribution at the Victor Chin
Kit Park in Point Fortin on Tuesday.
Communications advisor at Heritage, Kahlil
Commissiong, said the company intended to visit
“operating communities” to distribute 250,000
seedlings before the end of the year.
Heritage said over the next three weeks, it aimed
to hand out 25,000 seedlings “within our
fenceline.”
Commissiong said as part of this drive to
encourage people to grow their own food, they
would also be starting agropreneur training,
which will commence next month.
Commissiong said the theme, Here We Grow, is a
“CSR initiative to encourage and inculcate people
to grow their own foods in our communities”.
Seedlings were distributed to passers-by,
including school children, motorists and curious
onlookers. Some of the items handed out were
chive, pak choi, peppers, and lettuce.
Heritage said it will be distributing a variety of
garden vegetables and crops which can be grown
in six weeks.
